India hits your senses hard. It is by far the most incredibly terrifying yet most astonishingly beautiful place I have been fortunate to visit. Being an Architecture student, India was definitely a place on my wishlist to visit. The sheer detail and colour to the buildings from shades of rich red to vibrant blue. The marble and mirrors used to create these intricate reflections and warm undertones throughout their structures.
India is not everyone's cup of tea and was a big learning curve for me. Jumping off a plane into a world so completely dissimilar to mine was a shock; the crowded streets, the incessant honking of horns and cacophony of animals and street chatter in a foreign language provide a headache-inducing soundtrack.
The beggars are persistent and it is heart-breaking having young children grab your arms begging for money. India makes you very thankful for the little things in life, such as clean water and toilet paper. Nonetheless it was an amazing experience and I'm thankful that I was brave enough to visit.
With India, I think you have to go with an open mind and understand you are exploring countries like this to learn and gain an insight into other cultures and ways of life.
Agra, Jaipur and Jodhpur, the ’golden triangle’ in northern India, are amazing cities and provide an inspiring architectural experience..
